Innovations such as social networking, cloud computing, e-commerce, web conferencing, and desktop virtualization are changing the way we live, work, play, and learn. These capabilities are all powered by networks, and organizations around the world are experiencing a shortage of qualified ICT candidates to design, install, and manage these networks.
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment or advanced training in a variety of occupations in the information technology industry through the pursuit of Industry Certifications such as CompTia’s A+ Cisco’s CCENT and CCNA, and CompTia’s Server+
Course Description
CompTia’s Exam Essentials and IT Essentials: PC Hardware and Software is a hands-on, career-oriented learning solution with an emphasis on practical experience to help students develop fundamental computer skills, along with essential career skills. The CompTia’s curriculum helps students prepare for entry-level career opportunities and the CompTIA A+ certification, which helps students, differentiate themselves in the marketplace to advance their careers. In addition, the course provides a learning pathway to the Cisco CCNA® Discovery curricula.
CCNA Discovery teaches networking based on application, covering networking concepts within the context of network environments students may encounter in their daily lives – from small office and home office (SOHO) networking to more complex enterprise and theoretical networking models later in the curriculum. In CCNA Discovery students learn the basics of routing, switching, and advanced technologies to prepare for Cisco CCENT and CCNA certifications and entry-level networking career.
CompTIA Server+ (Independent Study provided you have completed the A+ and CCENT) is an international, vendor-neutral certification for technical support professionals with 18 to 24 months of IT experience. Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that CompTIA Server+ candidates hold a CompTIA A+ certification. CompTIA Server+ certifies the technical knowledge and skills required to build, maintain, troubleshoot and support server hardware and software technologies. The exam covers virtualization, disaster recovery and security procedures
