Congratulations to the Classes of 2010 of the Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology (LWIT), and Lorenzo Walker Technical High School (LWTHS), who participated in their graduation ceremony at 8:00 p.m. on June 4th at Germain Arena.

Postsecondary Teacher of the Year
On April 8th, Superintendent Thompson presented Chef Geri Leonard with the Collier County Public Schools’ Postsecondary Teacher of the Year award.
CCNA Offerings Expanded at LWIT
Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology will be offering Cisco Networking Academy CCNA Discoveries 3 (Parts 1 and 2) and 4 (Parts 1 and 2). This is the first time these classes have been offered at LWIT preparing students for the CCENT and CCNA certifications.

LWIT Starts Project Management Class
Lorenzo Walker is offering a course in project management. This course gives students the tools necessary to manage short term projects more effectively. Instruction covers all major aspects of project management including initiation, project planning, project implementation, project budgeting and project closing.

2009 Graduation
COLLIER COUNTY — When Audrey Johnson’s mother was dying of breast cancer, she watched the nurses take care of her. She decided it was something she wanted to do. Tuesday evening, Johnson graduated from the practical nursing program at the Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology. “It’s wonderful. ... It’s the best decision I have ever made,” she said.

May 27th, 2010 - The School District of Collier County continues to investigate the current situation with the Southwest Florida Electrical Apprenticeship Association and the instructors the association has hired and employed. The district has requested a full financial accounting of the association’s program.
